Rosa eglanteria
The rosehip is a plant associated with resilience, regeneration and enduring love. Since ancient times, it has symbolised the duality of beauty and strength: its five delicate petals coexist with thorns that protect and set boundaries.
It is native to Europe and has become naturalised in South America. The dog rose has been prized for centuries for its medicinal and regenerative properties. Its fruit, the rosehip, is one of the richest natural sources of vitamin C and was used by indigenous peoples and Europeans alike for healing and nourishment. In popular tradition, its oil is associated with the renewal of the skin and the spirit, and with the ability to blossom anew after damage.
A hardy, wild plant, it grows where others cannot and blooms profusely. Its beauty is unpretentious. This drawing invites us to honour our own capacity for regeneration, to trust in the love that endures, and to recognise that the most enduring strength is often born precisely where there was once a wound.
